MAHINDRA Xev 9s Overview
The Mahindra XEV 9S is Mahindra's first three-row, seven-seat electric SUV, built on the same dedicated INGLO skateboard platform as its siblings the XEV 9e and the BE6. Where the XEV 9e is a five-seat coupe-styled SUV, the 9S trades that raked roofline for an upright, XUV700-like profile so it can fit a usable third row, which makes it the more family-focused of the two. It was launched in Nepal at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026 and is sold and serviced by Agni Group, Mahindra's long-established distributor in the country.
Nepal gets two rear-wheel-drive versions: the Pack One Above with a 59 kWh battery and a 170 kW motor claiming up to 350 km, and the Pack Two Above with a 79 kWh battery and a 210 kW motor claiming up to 450 km, both using durable LFP battery chemistry and both making 380 Nm of torque. On a 140 to 180 kW DC fast charger Mahindra quotes a 20 to 80 percent top-up in around 20 minutes, while a home AC wallbox takes roughly 6 to 8 hours. Inside, it leans heavily on technology, with a triple 12.3-inch screen dashboard, an up to 16-speaker Harman Kardon system and a Level 2 ADAS suite using radar-based driver assists.

What could be better
- Claimed range is modest for the battery size (up to 350 km on the 59 kWh and up to 450 km on the 79 kWh in Nepal spec), and real-world figures in hills, heat and traffic will sit below that
- The third row is best for children and shorter adults, who sit in a knees-up position with limited headroom, so it is occasional seating rather than full-time adult space
- Low-speed ride stays busy over broken and patchy surfaces, which are common on Nepali roads
- Rear-wheel drive only, with no all-wheel-drive option, which can matter on steep, wet or loose hill roads
- Large footprint (4,737 mm long and 1,900 mm wide) makes it harder to place and park in tight Kathmandu streets
- Home AC charging is slow at roughly 6 to 8 hours, and the quickest DC charging depends on high-power chargers that are still limited outside major hubs in Nepal
