JUNEYAO Jy Air Overview
The Juneyao JY Air is a compact electric sedan from Chinese maker Juneyao Auto, sold in Nepal by LRR Motors and pitched at the premium end of the mid-size EV segment. It comes in two variants that share a single 99 kW rear-mounted motor making 250 Nm and driving the rear wheels: the Lite runs a 51 kWh LFP battery for a claimed 355 km on the WLTC cycle, while the Ultra steps up to a 64 kWh pack for a claimed 440 km. Both measure 4,550 mm long on a 2,800 mm wheelbase, give a fastback-style silhouette, and carry a 430 litre boot, a 15.6 inch central touchscreen, a 360 degree camera and seven airbags along with ABS, EBD, traction and stability control and TPMS.
The JY Air leans on space, kit and a low, sleek profile rather than outright speed, with a 170 km/h top speed and rear-wheel drive that suits relaxed cruising more than spirited driving. AC charging is quick for the class at 11 kW, and DC fast charging takes the pack from 30 to 80 percent in around 20 to 30 minutes depending on the charger, which helps on longer trips. As with any EV in Nepal, the WLTC range is a lab figure, so real distances drop once hills, air conditioning and city traffic are added, and the Ultra's larger battery gives more headroom for that.

- Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) on the Ultra lets the car power external devices, useful during outages
What could be better
- Single 99 kW motor and a 170 km/h top speed mean performance is adequate rather than quick, so it is not for buyers chasing acceleration
- Real-world range falls below the WLTC claims once Nepal's hills, air conditioning and city traffic are factored in, more so on the smaller Lite battery
- 172 mm ground clearance and a low fastback body can scrape on rough roads, steep driveways and tall speed bumps
- Rear-wheel drive can be less sure-footed than front-wheel drive on wet, loose or steep surfaces common outside the cities
- Juneyao is a new brand in Nepal, so long-term parts availability, resale value and the service network are still unproven
- Kerb weight around 1,770 kg is on the heavier side, which can blunt efficiency and add tyre and brake wear over time
