Vespa VXL 150 Overview
The Vespa VXL 150 is the classic, rounded-styled Vespa with the larger engine. It keeps the traditional round headlamp, curvy body panels and chrome accents, and the Nepal model uses a 154.8cc single-cylinder, three-valve, air-cooled BS4 engine with a carburettor making about 11.4 bhp and 11.5 Nm through a CVT. Hardware includes a 220 mm front disc with a twin-piston caliper and a 140 mm rear drum, an 11-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheel on tubeless tyres, a steel monocoque body and an analogue speedometer with a small LCD. ABS and an LED headlamp were fitted to some later versions sold elsewhere but are not confirmed on Nepal stock.
In Nepal it is sold through Delta Autocorp's Vespa and Aprilia network, strongest in Kathmandu. Compared with the SXL 150 it shares the same engine and brakes, with the difference being the softer, more traditional VXL styling, while the Elegante is a dressed-up version of this same scooter. The 150cc engine gives useful extra pull for hills and riding with a pillion, and the ride is planted over broken roads. Reviewers point to weak brake feel, average switchgear quality, no external fuel filler and modest fuel economy. It suits riders who want the classic Vespa look with more performance than the 125cc models.
