The Jaecoo J5 LR is the Long Range version of Jaecoo's compact electric SUV, sold in Nepal by SPG Automobiles, the authorised distributor for Omoda and Jaecoo. Where the standard J5 (the Pro) uses a smaller 50.7 kWh battery and charges on AC only, the LR steps up to a roughly 58 kWh (58.9 kWh) CATL lithium iron phosphate pack, claims about 400 km on the WLTP cycle, and adds DC fast charging up to 130 kW, so a 10 to 80 percent top-up takes around 36 minutes. It drives the front wheels through a single 155 kW (207 hp) permanent-magnet motor making 288 Nm, good for 0 to 100 km/h in about 7.7 seconds and a top speed near 174 km/h.

Standard kit is generous for the class, with a panoramic sunroof, six airbags, ESP with traction control, hill-hold, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist and a 360-degree camera. The practical case is straightforward: at 4380 mm long with a 2620 mm wheelbase and 480 litres of boot space, it is a usable family-sized SUV, and 185 mm of ground clearance is reasonable for Nepal's broken roads and steep driveways. The bigger battery and DC charging are the reasons to pick the LR over the Pro, since they turn it from a city-only runabout into an EV you can take on longer valley and highway runs without an all-day recharge.
