Aprilia SR 160 Overview
The Aprilia SR 160 is the sporty mainstay of Aprilia's scooter range and the model Aprilia Nepal calls its top-selling performance scooter. It uses a 160.03cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, 3-valve fuel-injected engine making about 11.3 PS and 13.44 Nm, driving through a CVT to a top speed of around 100 km/h. It keeps the SR recipe of 14-inch alloy wheels with 120/70 tubeless tyres, a 220 mm front disc and a five-step adjustable rear shock, and adds single-channel ABS, an LED headlamp, a fully digital instrument cluster with tachometer and distance to empty, and a USB charging port. Compared with the older SR 150 it has more torque, fuel injection and more modern equipment.
In Nepal it is distributed by Delta Autocorp, with showrooms and service in the Kathmandu Valley and towns such as Biratnagar, Butwal, Bharatpur, Itahari and Surkhet. Its extra torque helps on hill roads and with a pillion, and the large wheels feel settled at ring road speeds. The trade-offs are a stiff ride on rough streets, fuel economy closer to 28 to 35 km/l than commuter scooter figures, limited boot space and no Bluetooth. The newer SR 175 now sits above it. It suits riders who want a quick, sharp-handling scooter over maximum comfort or practicality.
