KIA Carens Overview
The Kia Carens is a seven-seat MPV with SUV-inspired styling, sold in Nepal in Premium and Prestige trims. Both use a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated Smartstream petrol engine producing 115 PS and 144 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive. The turbo-petrol, diesel and automatic versions sold in India are not offered in Nepal. Equipment includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen, eight-speaker Bose audio, a sunroof, wireless charging and ambient lighting. Safety is strong for its class, with six airbags, ESC, vehicle stability management, TPMS, ISOFIX, hill start assist and downhill brake control.
Owners appreciate the Carens for its long 2,780 mm wheelbase, which gives a roomy second row and a usable third row. Around 195 mm of ground clearance handles potholes and rough roads well. The naturally aspirated engine feels underpowered with seven people on board, especially on steep hill climbs, and requires frequent downshifts. It suits families who need seven seats for city use and occasional trips, backed by Kia's established service network in Nepal.
