NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026: Every EV Four-Wheeler Launched, Plus Older Models on Display

The second edition of the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026 opened at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, on August 11 and ran through August 16, organised by the Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA). The show brought together 51 stalls featuring more than 55 automobile and mobility brands, with 29 four-wheeler brands and 18 two-wheeler brands on the floor. Electric vehicles were the clear centre of gravity this year, with EVs on display ranging from around Rs 20 lakh to Rs 3.5 crore.

Below is a full rundown of the electric four-wheelers that were newly launched at the expo — with battery, motor power and claimed range — followed by the older or already-available models that brands simply brought along to showcase.

A note on pricing: "NAIMA price" is what the brand actually charged buyers who booked during the expo (including any expo-only early-bird or discount scheme); "regular price" is what the vehicle reverts to afterward. For most models the two are identical, since brands announced these as their official ongoing launch prices rather than time-limited expo discounts. Chery, Leapmotor, Wuling, Hongqi, and Kia are the exceptions, each running some form of introductory or expo-only pricing.

Tata New Tiago EV

The cheapest new EV launch of the show. Sipradi Trading's facelifted Tiago EV keeps the familiar hatchback shape but adds a redesigned front end, new colour options, and a 58 kW motor drawing from a 24 kWh battery for a claimed 205 km range. It comes with 2 airbags, ABS with EBD, and a Global NCAP 4-star rating on the base variant, plus the 11-year/220,000 km warranty for expo bookings.

Tata Punch EV 2026

Built on Tata's dedicated acti.ev platform, the Punch EV comes in 32 kWh and 40 kWh battery options with 195 mm of ground clearance for rough roads. The 40 kWh variant delivers a claimed 468 km range from a 95 kW motor, with 6 airbags, ESP, a 360-degree camera, and fast DC charging (10–80% in about 30 minutes) on higher trims.

BYD Atto 1 Facelift

BYD's entry-level hatchback, sold internationally as the Seagull, gets a 360-degree camera, auto-folding mirrors, and a revised dashboard for 2026. It runs a 45 kW motor off a 30.08 kWh or 38.88 kWh Blade LFP battery for 230–300 km of claimed range, with 6 airbags standard.

BYD Atto 2

New for Nepal, the Atto 2 slots between the Atto 1 and Atto 3 as a compact SUV with a 100 kW motor, 51.13 kWh Blade battery, and a claimed 345 km range. It includes a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, a heat pump, and a 360-degree view monitor, though DC fast charging tops out at a modest 65 kW.

BYD Atto 3 Facelift

BYD's established compact SUV gets the biggest 2026 update: a redesigned "Dragon Face" front, a bigger body, a column gear shifter, and 50W wireless charging. It's offered in Advance (49.92 kWh, 345 km) and Superior (60.48 kWh, 420 km) trims, both with a 100 kW motor, 6 airbags, and a full ADAS suite including adaptive cruise and lane-keeping assist.

Jaecoo J5 LR

A longer-range, lower-priced variant of Jaecoo's existing J5 SUV, brought in by SPG Automobiles. It shares the J5's 155 kW motor and roughly 58 kWh battery for a claimed 400 km range, undercutting the standard J5 by about Rs 6 lakh while keeping the same mid-size SUV footprint.

Maxus eTerron 9

An all-electric pickup from Himalaya Motrox, positioned as a premium utility vehicle rather than a budget workhorse. The Comfort variant runs a 325 kW motor off a 102.2 kWh battery for a claimed 560 km range, with a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, 7 airbags, adjustable air suspension on higher trims, and a 236-litre frunk alongside the main cargo bed.

Chery Q, Leapmotor B03X, Haval Jolion Max, MG U9, Wuling Eksion, Wuling Darion, Wuling Mini EV, Hongqi E-HS4, Mahindra XEV 9S, Arcfox T1, and Kia Syros EV don't have dedicated ev-nepal.com listings yet — they're recent enough that pages hadn't gone up at the time of writing, so specs above for those come from expo coverage rather than site photos.

2026 Facelifts: What Actually Changed

Four EV nameplates got facelifted at NAIMA rather than replaced outright:

Older / Existing EV Models Showcased (Not New Launches)

A number of brands used NAIMA purely as a display opportunity for vehicles that were already on the market or previously unveiled, rather than fresh launches:

• The Hyundai Ioniq 9, Hyundai's new three-row flagship, was on display at the Hyundai stall as a crowd-drawing exhibit alongside other upcoming electric models.
• GWM Ora 5 EV and MG Windsor EV — both already on sale in Nepal before the expo (Ora 5 from around Rs 46.99–51.99 lakh, Windsor EV from around Rs 39.75–44.99 lakh) — were shown at their respective stalls as existing models rather than new NAIMA debuts.
• Micro-segment EVs aimed purely at city driving — including MG Comet, Henry Volts, and other small city EVs — were on display at their respective stalls as existing options rather than new launches. (The Wuling Mini EV, previously assumed to be one of these, was actually a new NAIMA launch — see the table above.)

The Bigger Picture

This year's NAIMA Expo grew from 42 participating brands last year to 55 this year, and organisers positioned it as a response to a slower economy: the organisers said the event aims to revitalise Nepal's automobile market and promote new technologies at a time of weakened consumer demand. On pricing, industry voices flagged a familiar concern — unstable government policies consistently disrupt business plans, with EV tax rates having shifted several times since imports picked up around FY 2020-21. Financing was a visible part of the pitch too: banks at the venue were offering standard 40% down / 60% financing packages on EV purchases, with at least one bank advertising rates starting at its base rate plus 0.5% specifically for the expo.

For buyers, the takeaway is straightforward: Tata, BYD, Chery, GWM's Haval, Jaecoo, Leapmotor, Wuling, Mahindra, Arcfox and Kia pushed real new metal and real price cuts onto the floor this year, while Hyundai and Hongqi mostly used the expo to build anticipation for what's coming next.
