Yatri P2 Unveiled: Nepal's Most Advanced Electric Scooter, Built at Home

The Yatri P2 has been unveiled in Kathmandu, and Sipradi Yatri is calling it Nepal's most advanced electric scooter, designed, engineered and manufactured at home. Shown to media at an exclusive preview on August 24, 2026, the P2 is the first product from the joint venture between Sipradi and Yatri Motorcycles, and the reveal caps two years of in-house development across two vehicle generations.

Pre-booking opens from the NADA Auto Show, with full pricing to be announced at the commercial launch next month. Early bookings are scheduled for delivery from mid-October through the end of November.

A drivetrain built to argue with a hill

The P2 is built around a mid-drive PMSM motor, chosen because Nepal's hills never let a motor and controller rest. A power-dense, actively cooled three-phase controller sends 315 Nm of torque to the wheel through a 7.12 final-drive ratio, tuned to keep pulling on a continuous climb rather than fading halfway up. The result is 10 kW of peak power and a 90 km/h top speed, wrapped around a dual-cradle trellis frame with a 90 mm-travel front fork and dual progressive rear shocks. Dual disc brakes with combined braking, a 240 mm ventilated front rotor and a 220 mm ventilated rear, ride on 14-inch alloy wheels.

A battery that refuses to make you wait

The P2 uses an advanced LG lithium-ion pack, rated IP67, in three sizes: 3 kWh (90 km), 3.7 kWh (112 km) and 5.2 kWh (157 km of city range). Every one of them reaches 80 percent in about 41 minutes on Yatri's DC fast-charging network spanning 30 cities. Riders who prefer to charge at home get a 1350 W onboard AC charger with Optimized, Eco and Quick modes, all reaching 80 percent in under 2.5 hours. An optional 1.8 kWh range extender adds around 50 km, taking the total to 207 km, and the battery is covered by a warranty of up to 8 years or 80,000 km.

A dashboard that knows the city before you do

The P2's 7-inch TFT display carries its own 4G connection, mirroring the phone wirelessly through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto for navigation, calls and music, and pointing riders to the nearest DC charger. It quietly logs trip history, efficiency in Wh/km, regen behaviour and even the vehicle's heading, roll and pitch, alongside a built-in tyre pressure monitor.

The companion app extends all of that into a rider's pocket: proximity-based keyless start, live vehicle and charger location, route planning built around state of charge, fuel-savings and carbon-offset tracking, digital payments for service, and a Riderverse community with its own events and leaderboard.

Designed to watch your back

If the P2 detects a fall it cuts power, and if the impact is hard enough it shares the vehicle's location with an emergency contact. A Class-D projector LED headlamp with a floating position lamp keeps it visible and comfortable at night, and a regen-responsive tail light does the same in traffic. Walk away from a parked P2 and its anti-theft suite takes over with armed alerts, movement notifications, live tracking and remote immobilization. For the everyday ride there is terrain-adapting cruise control, three ride modes named Suste, Thikka and Babbal, reverse, three levels of regenerative braking, hill hold, a 45 W device charger and 30 litres of LED-lit boot space under a 775 mm seat. The electronics and embedded systems are AIS-standard certified by ARAI, Pune.

From NADA to your home

The unveil at NADA is deliberately not the whole story. Pre-bookings open from day one of the show, but Sipradi Yatri are holding the price back for a launch event in September that will also open Yatri's Experience Center at Teku, where test rides begin from late September. Riders who book at NADA or at the launch will not wait long: deliveries begin in mid-October and continue through November for the 3.7 kWh and 5.2 kWh variants, with the entry 3.0 kWh variant following from December.
