More Than 20 Electric Vehicle Prices Revised After Nepal's FY 2083/84 Budget – Complete Price Comparison
Last Updated: July 2026
Nepal's electric vehicle market has undergone one of its biggest pricing shake-ups in recent years. Following the Government of Nepal's FY 2083/84 budget announcement, EV importers across the country have revised showroom prices to reflect the new tax structure.
The budget replaced the long-standing motor power (kW)-based taxation system with a value-based tax structure, affecting vehicles across every price segment. While some affordable EVs have become cheaper, many premium electric vehicles have become significantly more expensive.
As of today, EV Nepal has confirmed 20 official price revisions across BMW, BYD, Deepal, Geely, iCAUR, Jaecoo, Leapmotor, Maxus, MG and Suzuki. More announcements are expected in the coming weeks, and this article will be updated whenever new official prices are released.
Why Have EV Prices Changed?
Nepal's FY 2083/84 budget introduced a major overhaul in the way electric vehicles are taxed.
Instead of calculating customs duty primarily based on motor power (kW), the government has shifted to a value-based taxation system.
As a result:
- Entry-level EVs have generally seen smaller increases or even price reductions.
- Mid-range EVs have experienced mixed changes depending on invoice value.
- Premium EVs have seen substantial price hikes.
Because taxes are now more closely tied to vehicle value, the impact varies significantly between models.

What Should Buyers Do?
If you're planning to buy an electric vehicle in Nepal, don't rely on older brochures, YouTube videos or social media posts published before the FY 2083/84 budget.
Always compare:
- Latest official showroom price
- Battery capacity
- Real-world driving range
- Charging speed
- Warranty coverage
- Service network
- Spare parts availability
- Total cost of ownership
A vehicle that offered excellent value before the budget may no longer be the best choice today.
