Volkswagen Amarok Overview
The Volkswagen Amarok is a double-cab pickup built on a ladder-frame chassis. The version sold in Nepal is the first-generation Amarok, launched here in 2017 with a 2.0-litre TDI BiTurbo diesel engine rated at 180 PS and 400 Nm. It uses 4MOTION four-wheel drive, offered in both selectable and permanent forms, along with off-road ABS, electronic stability control, hill-start assist and hill-descent control. The load bed is wide enough to take a Euro pallet crosswise between the wheel arches, which is the largest in its class. Front airbags are standard, and the first-gen Amarok scored four stars in Euro NCAP's 2010 test.
Reviewers praised the Amarok for a car-like cabin, low noise levels and a more comfortable ride than most pickups of its era. The small 2.0-litre diesel pulls well for its size, though it has to work hard with a full load on steep climbs. Its size makes it awkward in narrow city lanes.
