Uber Launches in Nepal

Uber has officially launched in Nepal, bringing the world's best known ride-hailing platform to Kathmandu's streets. At a launch event in the capital, the company unveiled its service under the banner "Namaste, Nepal. Your Uber has arrived," alongside company leadership and local partners. The car unveiled on stage was an electric vehicle.

What was announced

Uber introduced its ride-hailing service to Kathmandu, marking the company's formal entry into the Nepali market.

For riders, the promise is the familiar Uber experience: book a ride from your phone, see the driver and route in advance, and pay through the app. For drivers and vehicle owners, it opens a new earning platform in a market that has so far been served mainly by local apps.

What it means for Nepal's mobility market

Nepal's ride-hailing space has been led by homegrown apps for years. A global brand entering the market is likely to raise expectations on safety, transparency, and service quality, and to accelerate competition on pricing and driver incentives.

We will keep tracking Uber's rollout in Nepal. Check back for updates as more details emerge.
